Owner & Master Senior Stylist
Gwen has been a hair stylist for over 30 years. She owned a busy salon and spa in Wainwright, Alberta, from 1982 until her husband joined the Navy in 1992. After spending a few years on the East Coast, they made their home in Sooke in 1996. Gwen worked at home with other girls until opening Pure Elements in 2006.
“The best parts of the job are the frequent and fresh changes in styles and our connection with guests. Creativity is a huge part of the job, making people feel good about themselves inside and out.”
Mina is often your first contact at Pure Elements. As our office administrator, her organizational and people skills are indispensable to keeping the business running smooth – we would not want to run this place without her! Mina also coordinates our wedding parties politely and patiently to make beautiful things happen.
Master Senior Stylist
Dana has been a hair stylist since 2001, during which time she’s had three children and continues to work full time.
“I love my job – choosing the right color and cut to complement each other, but especially when a guest comes to us with a bad hair cut or color and I get to fix it and see the joy and confidence I have helped restore. As a working mom, I also know how important it is to take time to care for yourself too. Training junior stylists is another aspect I love and am good at (so I’m told).”
Amber has been a certified hair stylist since completing her training at the Academy of Excellence in Spring 2012.
“When I first moved to Sooke, I knew Pure Elements was where I wanted to work. I love helping clients achieve what they are looking for whether it’s refreshing what they have or going for something new, as well as helping my guests to learn how to style their hair at home.”
Shelby began her career training as apprentice at Pure Elements with her mom.
“Growing up in the salon, I feel right at home with our guests – some of which have known me since she was four, assisting my mom. I love to color hair, and carefully place foils to suite a particular style. We have a wonderful team to work with; each senior stylist helps us juniors improve and fine tune our skills.”
Shelby is graduating to Senior Stylist Feb. 2016, we are so proud of her hard work and dedication but most of all her care and attention to each guest.
Sarah has been an esthetitian and spa practitioner since completing her training at Blanche Macdonald in Vancouver in 2008, but has been in the industry since 2002.
“I love when I can make someone’s day better by pampering them, making them feel amazing. I enjoy the friendly relationships I’ve built with so many of our guests. I feel lucky to work in such a positive and beautiful environment every day. Not only do I have supportive co-workers and a caring boss, but a stunning view to enjoy daily!”
Esthetician & Gel Nail Technician
Kelly-Anne has been an esthetician and spa practitioner since 2005, completing her education at Ms. Lorea’s College of Esthetitics in Prince George, BC.
“I love all aspects of my job, but the greatest satisfaction is knowing that all my guests leave feeling pampered and even more beautiful. I love the environment at Pure Elements: our guests and staff make me feel like I work alongside family. I look forward to meeting new guests and helping them feel at home as well.”
