This past weekend we said our goodbyes to a beautiful lady Margaret Wjotala, Margaret was one of the first people I met when I moved to Sooke.  She was our Reiki Master, acupressure facial practitioner, reflexologist and mentor of Love.  One day after a long day at a wellness show when we first opened Pure Elements, Margaret had given countless Reiki sessions, I asked her if she had a limit on how many she could do in one day, and she said ” Its just giving Love, I have lots to give”   She sure had more than enough to go around. 

  She helped me design this business,  she taught us all to protect our health and positive energy by saying “Loving Kindness”  three times in a row.  This gave us the protection to go through stress, relationship issues and even past burdens.  Margaret was one of those people who made you believe you could accomplish and overcome anything.

 Margaret also taught us faith through her illness, she never complained or showed signs of giving up.  We were blessed to have Margaret in our lives, a lady who left behind a legacy of Love, pure unconditional love.  We miss you Margaret, but each and everyday I look around my staff , my family and  I see the legacy you helped me build, young ladies who still carry your words of wisdom and pay forward all your teachings of Love and Kindness.

last night I gave myself a facial, I know I own a spa I should not have to do my own at home.   However with my last minute trip to AB to care for Mom I missed my regular facial and pedicure.  Sarah managed to fit me in between both our busy schedules for my pedicure, but I just could not see a facial in the near future.  So here I am last night applying the layers of masks to my face to hopefully bring back that glow I get from a pure Elements facial.  Well, my skin did benefit a bit, but the glow was no where near as bright as a pure Elements facial.  first of all I missed my hands and feet being massaged, the wonderful scalp massage at the end, and the extra add on products to just complete the package.  Wow! when I think of it, what you get with a pure Elements facial with no add on costs is definitly value for dollar.  For only 75.00 an hour and a half of full on relaxation with the perfect mix of  the qualaity Aveda or Seaflora products a person benefits in many ways.  Truly a mind, body and soul experience.

We are so excited to welcome Wendy, our new Master Stylist.  She is supplying us with constant education!  If any of you would like to be a model, please let Mina know and we will add you to our list.  Cuts, formal up do styles, party looks, as well as color classes are all scheduled for the next 6 months.  No runway experience is needed, just your head and your time.  You must be open to change and to be patient during our training time.

Brittney Chretien, senior stylist is back with us.  She brings many talents such as hair extensions, gel nails, as well as full service salon services.  Brittney apprenticed for a few years with Gwen and Stacey back at Magnolias and our first year at Pure Elements.  Brittney also volunteers at the high school, running the cheer leading program.  Welcome back Brittney!

Natysha Norby, is our new Junior Stylist.  Natysha has lived in Sooke for 6 years and is a graduate from EMCS.  Natysha graduated from the Academy of Excellence this spring and is a very keen new stylist.  Her quiet disposition should not fool you; she loves to create and always wants to learn new things.  We are excited to watch her expand on her already talented career.  Natysha’s ladies shampoo, haircut and blowdry is only $25.

Shelby has had a very busy summer assisting all of us and working on her apprentice program.  She is very excited to have a focused instructor to help fast track her career to full time stylist.  Laura and Dana are still our full time senior stylists and they are busy planning their winter calendar with advanced classes to always offer the latest in cutting and color designs.  They as well appreciate the in house training Pure Elements offers.

Our team will be there volunteering their time, shaving heads.  For those of you who know my husband Ed, he is going to go right to the wood, hoping to raise $2000 for Cops for Cancer.  So if you don’t have anyone to pledge to or you would like to help with this worthy cause, drop by the salon and pledge for Ed, he is lopping off his pony tail for a wig for cancer patients, and then shaving.  I have to admit I’m ready to see the old Ed back; the pony tail has been fun since he was military most of our marriage, but I always loved a clean cut guy!
